This was the view from our hotel! Follow the path down to the water for an incredible picture spot.
The world's best travel companion!
Our best friends that we got to share this amazing Italian adventure with.
Portofino, oh portofino! Where to even begin with this beautiful, Italian gem. If I had to pick a favorite city from our entire trip, this would be it. From the moment you step into the adorably quaint town and catch a glimpse of the sparkling turquoise water, you feel like you are in a dream world. It is hard to describe just how picturesque this place is.
My suggestion for the perfect day is to start with a cappuccino by the water just taking in the scenery and the boats rolling in. Follow that with a hike to the lighthouse on the cliff. Just below the lighthouse is a small bar called Al Faro di Portofino with the best views around. Ask anyone in town (most people speak english) and they will be able to point you in the right direction. Once you get on the path, just follow the signs for the bar. Once you arrive, sit and enjoy a drink (notice this is becoming a trend), you will not believe the views. Literally turquoise water as far as the eye can see! After the hike, make your way back down into the little village for lunch and shopping. Make sure and leave a few hours to just explore before dinner. Finish the night off with a glass of wine and a plate of pesto lasagna at Trattoria Concordia. The region is known for its pesto, and I must say it did not disappoint. The pesto lasagna was one of the most delicious things we ate during our trip.
Looking for the perfect place to stay? Domina Home Piccolo was an incredible hotel for the value. Modern, clean rooms with beautiful views and a delicious breakfast buffet. If you find yourself in Portofino, make sure and book a night here. If you have a larger budget and are looking to splurge, this hotel is for you! The views alone at Belmond Hotel Splendido are worth the price. Someday, i'll spend an evening at this gorgeous hotel.
