Happy Thursday, friends! I am SO excited for today’s post, because it is one of my favorite projects I have worked on in a long time. If you have been following me for the past year or so, you know my obsession with the furniture and home decor store, Steven Shell Living. When we moved back to NC from Seattle, we essentially had zero furniture. I stumbled upon Steven Shell on one of my many shopping trips to Cameron Village and fell in love the moment I walked through the doors. My home consists of probably 75% Steven Shell furniture, so it’s safe to say I am a huge fan! There are only two locations, so I feel lucky we have one right here in Raleigh. The Raleigh location has pieces that reflect our areas style and design influences. The other store is located in Charleston and is much larger (the Raleigh location is 5,000 square feet and the Charleston store is 25,000 square feet) and the selection is curated towards that area. I can’t wait to visit one day!

I recently worked with the team at the Raleigh location ( they are AMAZING and feel like friends to me now) to give our master bedroom a refresh. My favorite piece in my bedroom is my MASSIVE dresser and matching mirror from Steven Shell. I love this dresser because it has a ton of storage space and makes such a statement in our bedroom. It has 11 huge drawers and comfortably fits most of Ben and I’s clothes. We don’t have huge closets, so this dresser was the perfect storage solution. The matching mirror looks beautiful hung above the dresser and helps our room appear larger.

The other piece that I’m most excited about is the large feather print. I searched high and low for something that would fill that wall that was unique yet timeless and couldn’t seem to find anything. I spotted the feather print and knew it would be perfect and fill the space beautifully. It makes such a statement, and I love the way it turned out.

I finished off the space with a few fun accessories from the store. My gorgeous tapestry pillows add the perfect hint of color to the room. They are INCREDIBLE quality and finish off the bed with warmth and texture. I also added a few large vases with faux greenery. Steven Shell has an amazing selection of accessories for any space. Everything is super versatile and would look great in any room.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Steven Shell Living. They have the most amazing pieces that are well made, sturdy, beautiful and timeless. I pop into the store way too many times in a month and never leave empty-handed. If you are on the hunt for furniture or decor, stop in and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

Since having Lola almost 10 months ago (WOW), I have been focusing on my mental and physical health. Sure, I would love to lose those stubborn 15 lbs, but I also really want to be my best self for her! It’s been fun to try different workouts that way I don’t get in any sort of rut and can stay motivated. I have never considered myself a yogi, but was excited to try out my first class at Core Power Yoga. I have several friends who are die-hard Core Power goers, and decided it would be a new and fun challenge.

Core Power Yoga is conveniently located in my favorite shopping destination, Cameron Village! Who doesn’t love a workout followed by a coffee treat and a little shopping! I must admit, I was a little nervous before heading into my first class but I ended up loving it. The staff at the studio are so kind and accommodating and you feel welcomed the moment you walk through the doors. The class I took was the C1 class which is the one they recommend for beginners. It was challenging and relaxing all in one, and I was truly surprised how much I enjoyed moving through the different poses. Now that I have the beginner class under my belt, I am excited to try the Yoga Sculpt class which is a yoga class that mixes in strength training and weights making it more high-energy.

Core Power Yoga Cameron Village offers a one-week free trial membership so you can try Core Power risk-free. I promise you will love it as much as I did and maybe we can even try a class together!

Anyone else LOVING this Fall weather we have finally been having? Ben and I have been trying to take full advantage of the beautiful evenings we have left before it gets insanely cold. On Saturday we decided to head to one of our favorite places in the triangle, Cameron Village, for a little shopping and dinner. We first grabbed coffee and a sweet treat at Cafe Carolina and Bakery to hold us over before dinner. Next we did a bit of browsing around the village and stopped into one of my favorite stores for furniture and decor. If you haven’t checked out Steven Shell, then you are definitely missing out. About 75% of the furniture in my home is all from Steven Shell which means I am a HUGE fan. I was so excited to see that they had already put out their Christmas decor and it was like a festive wonderland in there. I picked up a few things to decorate with for the holidays, and I can’t wait to share! After more window shopping and browsing we stopped in for a delicious pasta dinner and a glass of wine at Piccola Italia Pizza and Restaurant. We finished the evening with giving Lola a bath and a few hours of snuggles! It was seriously the perfect evening and one we will be recreating at Cameron Village soon.

For some reason, I have been seriously putting off packing my hospital bag! I think in my mind it means that this is all really happening, and I guess I better come to terms because it's REALLY happening. This week, I decided it was finally time to get our bags all packed! I asked for advice from my followers on Instagram, friends and family and have come up with a cohesive list of all the essentials! I decided to break it up into three parts- what i'm packing for me, for the baby and for Ben!

WHAT'S IN MY BAG:

  • My Overnight Bag: I recently got this bag from Henri Bendel, and I am OBSESSED! It is definitely a splurge but amazing quality and will be something I have in my closet for years. It is super roomy and fits everything I need for our hospital stay. I can't recommend it enough.
  • Toiletry Bag: Along with the overnight bag, I picked up this toiletry bag. It is technically an organizer for a diaper bag, but works perfectly for this purpose. It will also be great to use in the diaper bag!
  • Toiletries- I've been trying to narrow down my products to what I will truly use and have come up with a pretty good list. Hair ties and bobby pins (in case I want to braid my hair back for labor), hairbrush, dry shampoo (definitely a necessity), makeup removing wipes, toothpaste, electric toothbrush, deodorant, razor and moisturizer!
  • Makeup: I've been told that having a small amount of makeup on will make you feel more like yourself after labor (especially when you have a bunch of visitors). I'm bringing my favorite foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush, mascara, eyeliner and eyebrow product!
  • Chapstick: Evidently your lips get extremely chapped in the hospital! I am in love with this one from Hatch.
  • Nipple Cream: This one is supposed to work wonders!
  • Breast Pads
  • Extra long phone charger (the outlets are supposed to be far away from the beds in the hospital)
  • Towel from home: supposedly the ones in the hospital are small and scratchy
  • Pillow: again, the pillows in the hospital are flat and scratchy (It was also recommended to have a colorful pillowcase so it doesn't get lost).
  • Comfy Robe: I'm planning on wearing the hospital gown for labor and then changing into this robe for easy access for breast feeding. We also plan on taking a few pictures in the hospital, so this will photograph well.
  • Nursing Pajamas: I am also bringing these pajamas from Belabumbum. They make great loungewear that is comfy, soft and perfect for breast feeding!
  • Nursing Bra: I'm bringing both this one and this this one. I have worn this one for the past few months and love it. Its super comfy and provides just the right amount of support. I'm also bringing this nursing tank in case I prefer it.
  • Flip Flops: I bought this cheap pair to have on hand for showering or walking the halls.

WHAT'S IN THE BABY'S BAG:

  • Diaper Bag: I decided to pack the baby's diaper bag for the hospital so that it's all ready for when we get home. We are using this diaper bag from Fawn Design. I love that it is roomy and has plenty of space for everything we need. It's made from a durable faux leather that feels like the real thing and is easy to wipe clean. Plus it is pink and perfect for our little girl!
  • Coming home outfit: I'm bringing two different sizes in case the newborn option is too small
  • Onesies: Also bringing a few sizes for these
  • Lovie
  • Swaddle and hat for pictures: I got this one from Copper Pearl and LOVE it. Copper Pearl has the cutest prints and are made from the softest fabrics.
  • "Hi My Name Is" name tag: I ordered this one off of Etsy
  • Little Giraffe Blanket: This blanket is SO soft and one of my favorites that we have received.
  • Pacifiers: Not sure if we will give one to her right away, but I want to bring them in case
  • Bibs: These are my favorites!
  • Car Seat: Ours is already installed in the car and we are planning on taking it to the fire station to ensure it is properly in there.
  • Nursing Pillow: I have heard this is nice to have in the hospital for when you are getting the hang of breast feeding

WHAT'S IN BEN'S BAG:

  • Overnight Bag: We have traveled with these for years and they are our favorite. They are perfect for overnight trips or weekend trips
  • Comfy Clothes: Ben loves a good pair of joggers, a T-shirt and a hoodie!
  • Button Down Shirt or Zip- Up Hoodie: for skin to skin when the baby arrives
  • Blanket and Pillow: the sleeping situation for Ben at the hospital is not ideal but hopefully these will make it a but more comfortable
  • Laptop and Charger
  • Camera fully charged
  • Extra long phone charger
  • Toiletries
  • Both of our driver's licenses and insurance cards

Everyone says to bring an extra bag to fill with all of the freebies from the hospital. Take advantage of the diapers, wipes, disposable underwear. Ask for more when there is a shift change for nurses!
